The problem with litter floors Food pad lesion, breast blisters and respiratory diseases are common problems in poultry houses where birds are kept on litter. The in the beginning comfortable and animal-friendly looking litter floor turns into a wet surface existing out of build-up litter and manure after a short while. Birds walk and rest on their own litter which causes food pad lesion and breast blister. Besides this harmful ammonia gasses caused by manure creates respiratory problems. In short, this kind of environment in which birds are exposed to manure causes diseases and therefore an abundance use of antibiotics. The conclusion was obvious. Broilers should be separated from manure in order to stay healthy and promote growth rates.
Separate broilers from manure Separate broilers from their manure is done by slats and manure belts of the BroMaxx® broiler colony system. FlexFloor® slats let manure fall through on the underlaying manure removal belt and create a clean and hygienic living surface for the bird. Regular removal of manure out of the house decreases ammonia emission significantly. The air improves as well as the respiratory conditions of the birds. Besides this great advantage the slats also offer great comfort and support to the breast and feet of broilers because of the soft and flexible features. Breast blisters and food pad lesion hardly occur. The open structure of the slats also provide good ventilation in each compartment. Broilers stay free from disease which allows them to use all their energy for growth.
Excellent Feed Conversion Ratio Healthy broilers use their energy for growth instead of defending illnesses. Therefore healthy broilers have a better feed conversion ratio as they use their feed efficiently. Additional advantage is created by the special designed BroMaxx® feeding pan that improves the feed conversion even more by avoiding feed spillage.
Maximized broiler production: The result of high liveability and high bird density The high liveability and the high bird density increases the number of quality produced broilers and therefore allows maximized broiler production. More broilers are produced because of the healthy living conditions and the ideal dimension of the colony tier system that allows to keep more birds at one square meter.
Efficient way of harvesting broilers Catching birds manually is very time-consuming and labour-intensive. Besides this it affects the quality of production because of the damages caused to the birds. Broken limbs and bruises mean no good for the quality of meat. The BroMaxx® broiler colony system enables automatic transport of broilers. FlexFloor® slats can be pulled out of the systems allowing broilers to land on the underneath cleaned manure belt. Broilers are then transported automatically to one side of the house. From here there are various solutions for further processing of the birds.
