  • Avoid bacteria penetration Although eggs have natural defence mechanism, this defence is not entirely adequate to prevent eggs from bacterial penetration. Bacterial penetration causes misshapen eggs that do not hatch or may lead to cross contaminations of many other chicks. Eggs are most vulnerable to bacterial penetration in the first minutes after lay before the cuticle hardens and effectively caps the pores. But also after these minutes penetration is not excludable. Therefore some measurements should be taken in order to protect the egg.
  • Dirt and moisture Eggs should be protected from bacteria mostly caused by dirt and moisture. Outside nest eggs give poor hatch results as they are dirty and full of bacteria. Litter nest eggs also contain dirt and moisture as manure builds up inside the nest. Besides this, litter nest eggs also remain in the nest for a longer period before they are gathered, giving bacteria full access to insert the egg.
  • Cracked eggs The environment in which eggs are laid should also protect the quality of the egg shell. Cracked eggs mean no good for the hatch results as bacteria have free access to enter. Integrators who want to reduce the use of antibiotics on their broiler flock should discard all floor eggs and cracked eggs. This will yield more healthy broiler chicks of better quality.
  • Hygienic environment to lay eggs In order to prevent bacterial penetration into the egg it is very important to ensure a hygienic environment in which eggs are laid. Also the quality of the egg shell needs to remain in perfect condition. The Premium+ laying nest from Jansen Poultry Equipment is most favourable by many farmers over the world because of the high hatchability results and the good health of the born chicks. The nest contains all features a quality laying nest should have in order to produce first class eggs that are free from dirt and damages.
  • Keeping the nest free from dirt and moisture Special designed nest mats of the Premium+ laying nest have an open structure and therefore prevents dirt from remaining in the nest. The mats also make minimal contact with the egg which preserves the hygiene of the egg even more. An expel system avoids hens from roosting in the nest by night and avoids unnecessary contamination.
  • Direct removal of eggs out of the nest Eggs should be removed out of the nest directly after lay in order to protect the quality. The Premium+ automatic roll-away nest allows eggs to roll onto the egg belt directly after lay. Hens do not get the change to contaminate or damage eggs. Direct removal of eggs out of the nest also avoids temperature fluctuation of the egg caused by hens moving in and out the nest. The special design nest mat allows perfect transfer from the nest to the egg belt remaining the quality of the egg shell. The special perforated egg belt ensures a safe transport of eggs.
  • Avoid outside nest eggs In order to prevent floor eggs, nests should be attractive for the hens. The Premium+ laying nest contains all the features that give hens the preference to lay eggs inside the nest instead of the floor. The nest is favour by many farmers world-wide because of the minimal amount of floor eggs.
  • Cleaning Also essential for the hygiene in a poultry house is the cleaning procedure after each flock. The Premium+ laying nest has perfect properties to easily clean all parts of the system. Even the egg belt and nests are easy to clean because of the double winchable roof plates.
  • Management The quality of hatching eggs can be influenced by using the right equipment. But also indispensable is good management of the breeder flock.
