Large broiler breeder farmer ready for the future

Dr. T. Chemaou El Fihri is a well experienced veterinarian and is active in the poultry industry since 1990. He is the owner of Systeme Avicole in Morocco. The company consists of a veterinarian clinic with two veterinarians, a broiler farm and 4 broiler breeder houses with Jansen Poultry Equipment laying nests. In October 2005 he wants to start producing with the fifth broiler breeder house. The first time Dr. Chemaou heard of Jansen Poultry Equipment was during the VIV in Utrecht in 2002. No more than half a year later, in April 2003, he started the first production in two automated farm houses. Later in September 2004 the third and fourth house were equipped.

He has birds from Hubbard and the results are absolutely excellent. During the peak of laying the percentage of hatching eggs was over 86%. The hatchability was 92% which has made the total investment very profitable for the company. The percentage floor eggs is less then 1%. Rearing and production is done in the same house which means that the houses are occupied three at the time. A sixth house is planned for 2006.  Each house can have up to 7.500 female birds depending on the breed.

Dr Chemaou is very enthusiastic about the Jansen Poultry Equipment automatic laying nests. “Morocco does not have any automated systems and all production of hatching eggs is done in hand collected nest boxes” Dr. Chemaou says. Of course there is a big difference in the investment but the benefits are enormous. First of all the quality of the eggs produced in automatic nests is absolutely perfect. This will benefit the hatchability. Because the percentage of floor eggs is so low the number of lost eggs is minimal. With the automated system less workers have to enter the farm house which results in a much lower contamination risk. The workers that do enter the house are working in a much better working environment. They have much more time to pay attention to the things that are really important such as the total management of the house, the male birds, feed management and production management. One more benefit that has to mentioned is the reduction of labour. “This really makes the difference because we now have much more control over the entire management of the farm houses”. Dr. Chemaou is a very satisfied customer of Jansen Poultry Equipment. He has a mission and a clear vision for his company and maybe without knowing it a mission for North Africa. With this company as reference we have opened the door to top productions for more poultry farmers in the North African market.
